Tres Cruces, natural viewpoint in Paucartambo Cusco
Located in the province of Paucartambo, at 4,000 m.a.s.l. is the Natural Viewpoint of Tres Cruces in which you can see one of the most beautiful sunrises in Peru and why not, in the world.
Paucartambo is 109 kilometers southeast of the City of Cusco.
The car trip takes about 5 hours weather factors and road conditions. Although the first section (Cusco – Paucartambo) can be done by car since the road is semi paved, the second can only be done by truck and 45 kilometers must be driven to reach the Tres Cruces viewpoint and the Abra Acjanaco.
This viewpoint has been given the name of Tres Cruces, because in the winter solstices (in the months of June and July) a natural phenomenon occurs in which the sun rises on the horizon and when passing through the humid atmosphere is distorted as if it goes through a prism so that three suns are visualized (for the same effect).
The first rays of sun begin at 4.30 a.m. So it is advisable to be a while before to enjoy the event from its beginning. Many travelers attend the viewpoint during the main festival of the town La fiesta de la Virgen del Carmen.
The viewpoint is located on the border with the Manu National Park. In general, tours that take place at the viewpoint tend to integrate both excursions.
